Randy W. Fiser leads the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) as chief executive officer, overseeing the strategic planning, financial management, and national operations for the Society’s more than 25,000 members who work across all sectors of residential and commercial interior design.
He leads the network of 48 ASID chapters throughout the United States and Canada to advance the profession and to communicate the impact of interior design to enhance the human experience and to transform lives. Fiser achieves this by ensuring that ASID is the core of the design network, expanding industry knowledge, developing the practice of interior design, and creating a performance-oriented organization.
Since being named CEO in 2012, Fiser has led ASID in key collaborations to advance the interior design profession, including a commitment with the Clinton Global Initiative to develop protocols for health and wellness in design. He also fostered an alliance with leaders of the design and construction industry and building owners and operators to promote resilience in building materials, design, and construction.
He has led ASID and the interior design profession to important practice rights victories, including the passage of a bill in Massachusetts that grants interior designers the right to bid on state projects as prime contractors, and the defeat of a bill in California that would have excluded interior designers from the permitting process.
Fiser focuses on developing programming and education that address the needs of the entire design community, from seasoned practitioners and emerging professionals to students and educators. He has deepened and expanded industry research through the Society’s annual Interior Design Outlook and State of the Industry report and the quarterly ASID Interior Design Billings Index.
Dedicated to advancing community and economic development, Fiser brings to his role a unique point of view about the capacity of design to make a positive impact on human health, well-being, and productivity. Prior to ASID, Fiser held leadership roles in strategic management, finance, operations, programs, and planning with Achieve Inc., Make It Right Foundation, the Fannie Mae Foundation, and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Fiser received an MBA in International Business from Georgetown University, an M.Ed in Counseling and Human Development from the University of Georgia, and a B.S. in Business Administration – Human Resources from Northern Arizona University.
